Therapeutic Massage ~ Injury & Stress Recovery

There's no denying the power of bodywork.  Regardless of the adjectives we assign to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen.

Most experts agree that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress related. And  perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. While eliminating anxiety and pressure altogether in this fast-paced world may be idealistic, massage can, without a doubt, help manage stress. This translates into:

  •

    Decreased anxiety
  • Enhanced sleep quality
  • Greater energy
  • Improved concentration
  • Increased circulation
  • Reduced fatigue

Clients often report a sense of perspective and clarity after receiving a massage. The emotional balance that bodywork provides can often be just as valuable as the more tangible physical benefits.

Hot Stone Therapy

There may be no quicker or more effective way to reduce stress than with hot stone therapy.  The heat of the stones has an instant melting effect on muscles which prepares your body for deep relaxation.  The combination of warm oil, hot stones and long, slow Swedish massage strokes will induce a sense of serenity and joy.  It is a delight to the senses.  Come on in...you owe it to yourself!

Chair Massage

Don't have time for a full body massage but really need a break?  A chair massage is a marvelous answer.  The client remains fully clothed and no oil or lotion is used.  Chair massages are generally 5 ~ 15 minutes in length and are customized to relax or energize ~ whatever you need at that moment.

Pre/Perinatal Massage

Most people enjoy human touch. A touch can convey comfort, love, awareness and many other sensations; in the case of massage (soft tissue manipulation) it can also help alleviate aches and pain.  The resulting emotional and physical balance is especially valuable when you are pregnant since your baby enjoys the benefits also.

Benefits of Prenatal and Perinatal Massage Include:

  • Calms and supports the new mother who is dealing with the physical and emotional challenges of giving birth and bringing a new baby home
  • Relieves muscle cramps, spasms, and myofascial pain, especially in the lower back, neck, hips and legs
  • Increases blood and lymph circulation which can reduce swelling
  • Reduces stress on weight-bearing joints
  • Teaches techniques you and your partner can  employ to ease labor pain
  • Enhances the pliability of skin and underlying tissues
  • Aids muscles in returning to pre-pregnancy condition
  • Helps detoxify and assist in the healing process after giving birth

Infant Massage

There is no substitute for loving touch. Through touch, babies first learn trust and the comfort and security of loving and of being loved.  Numerous studies have found that massage plays a significant role in promoting the proper growth and healthy development of infants. Physically, massage stimulates the nerves, increases blood flow and strengthens the immune system. It can relieve a host of childhood complaints from colic to constipation. A daily rubdown on a baby’s belly, for example, helps work out gas and regulates digestion. Gently stroking an infant’s face can improve her ability to suck. Most of all, massage strengthens parent-child bonding.

Increase the Benefits with Frequent Visits

Getting a massage can do you a world of good. And getting massage frequently can do even more. This is the beauty of  bodywork. Taking part in this form of regularly scheduled self-care can play a huge part in how healthy you'll be and how youthful you'll remain with each passing year.  Budgeting time and money for bodywork at consistent intervals is truly an investment in your health. And remember - just because  massage feels like a pampering treat doesn’t mean it is any less therapeutic. Your muscles and body systems are getting the benefit of a full body workout while you are resting, feeling nurtured and practicing the type of self-care that is critical to emotional and physical balance. Consider massage appointments a necessary piece of your health and wellness plan, and we can work together to establish a treatment schedule that best meets your needs.
